The Mote did a great job preparing a wicket at Hunton CC early season after much rain in the week. Low scoring was expected. LPCC won the toss, electing to bat. Although a bit of a gamble, conditions did not change that much, with many balls staying low at times in both innings. LPCC made a good start, reaching 60 for 2 after 12 overs (max 25). Etienne batted superbly, with Ishan prividing early support. Jonah was going along nicely before being bowled by a ball rhat stayed very low. From there, The Mote took control. Etienne's retirement on 30 was followed by superb spin bowling from Oscar E who took 6 wickets, and tight bowling by Oscar H. LPCC were unable to put together any meaningful partnerships despite a brief fight back by Austin L and Austin B. Disappointingly, 8+ overs were unused, but 72 runs to chase was a target at least. The Mote started very well and reached 35 off 8 overs. However once Tilly departed (24 off 14 balls) LPCC were able to exert more pressure and take the next 3 wickets for just 7 runs. Oliver E steadied the ship scoring 12 off 17 balls, and The Mote looked set to reach the target on 60 for 4. However more bowling and fielding pressure led to more wickets, and The Mote finished on 60 for 9 off 20.3 overs, unable to send out no 11 batter due to illness earlier in the game. LPCC spinners did the damage; Aarush with 4, Morgon 2 and Ishan 1 wicket. A mention for Austin L, with a good fielding and bowling performance.
