LPCC U15 Boys faced TWCC U15 Girls for their starting match of 2021, a tough opposition for their first game together as a team. TWCC won the toss, and chose to bat first. Despite the strong batting skills of the girls, steady bowling by Patrick & Myles made sure they had to work for their runs. A good catch by Myles off the accurate bowling of Reuben took out their opening batsman, while Patrick took the first wicket when dismissing the other opener. Increasingly confident bowling by Joe, Terry, Nat & Rafi held the girls to 170 runs.
Nat & Patrick opened the batting, and led the team in standing up to some strong bowling. The partnership of Jack B and Myles was at the heart of the innings, delivering a partnership of 35 runs, as the team reached a respectable total of 84.
Despite facing a better established and well practiced opposition, the boys approached their first match with mature and considered play, which will help the team consolidate its game over the season. Thanks to Myles & Patrick for playing up from the U13s.
