On a grey and overcast morning Captain Archie McCulloch won the toss and put Borderers in to bat. This turned out to be a good decision. Linden Parks u15 teams first game this season, showed them to be a well disciplined and focused unit.
The bowling attack of Dishan Koothur and Felix Mcardle Hodge proved too strong for the Borderers batting. Both bowlers taking three wickets apiece. Fin Bassett put up some resistance by scoring 13 before being caught lbw by Felix. It was left to Max Bandler, Jake Simmons and Harry Cheadle to mop up the remaining wickets. A mention must be made to the standard of fielding, where every one of six catches was held.
The total of 58 was always going to be a difficult one to defend and Sam Greenhill had a breakthrough by taking Dishan’s wicket very early on. This brought Archie McCulloch to the wicket and he resolutely took the challenge to the home team. With an excellent display of controlled shot play, he scored 35, partnered by Jake (16) and they took the score past the required 59 and earned Archie the MOM award. Excellent team effort and a valuable win.
