Linden Park won one and lost four. We made a good start by winning our first game but sadly couldn't sustain that. The next three matches were relatively close and, on another day with a bit more luck, things might have gone our way. In the fourth, against the girls, we got a little ragged and didn't help ourselves with some unhelpful off-pitch chatter (the chief culprit has been spoken to).
However, the final match against Warriors was a good way to end. Although we were well beaten - this was no surprise since they were comfortably the best team in the tournament and we lost to them last week - the fielding was excellent and no one's head went down, even though we were starting to get tired.
Obviously at this level, and with a mixture of Y4 and Y5 children playing (we probably had more Y4 children than other teams), some are going to be more advanced than others in batting and bowling. That applies to us as it does to all teams and that's fine. What we can work on is our fielding (especially catching), running and general game awareness. It doesn't happen overnight but the fact that nearly everyone has had some experience of tournament cricket should help.
