Firstly big thanks to all players and parents who turned up early so we could crack on with the game and who stuck around until the bitter end when it was pouring down.
Vikings won the toss and elected to bat first. They were unlucky to get Etienne, Morgan and Austin on a good day, all of whom bowled a good line and length and were probably a bit quicker than what they were used to. Although wickets fell periodically, they didn't lose focus and Aarav kept the scoreboard ticking over.
In reply, Celts managed to get the runs without too much difficulty but again there was really good spirit among the Vikings whose heads didn't drop even when the match and the weather was against them.
This was a match played in the right spirit and with some good cricket on both sides. For the Vikings, Aarav did particularly well with bat and ball and, as captain, kept the team going. Henry Gillespie's keeping was also excellent. Their line-up weren't as experienced as that of the Celts but they stuck at it. The fielding, calling and running between the wickets - which are half the battle at this level - will improve the more they play. Good luck to all for the rest of the season.
