U11’s secure another win

Another good performance saw LP just edge out a decent BYG team. As the score suggests, there was very little between the two teams but the crucial difference was in the fielding or, more precisely, the number of overthrows. The opposition conceded more than 10, whereas Linden Park barely any, except for the last ball which fortunately did not prove critical.
Again, Austin Lees, this time in partnership with Austin Bandler, got us off to a solid start. Though Monty and Barnaby were both dismissed, they kept the scoreboard moving in the right direction. Caiden and Mujtaba suffered a run out but still added 14 for their partnership before Byron and Morgan hit 40 for the last four overs.
Our bowling was decent without being spectacular but we kept it tight and though they needed 18 from the last two overs Austin L and Morgan ensured they came up short.
Again, it can't be stressed how important calling and running between the wickets is when we are batting, and backing up and keeping our heads are when we are fielding. We have made huge strides in all these areas but can still improve.
Man of the match went to Byron Bandler for some fine hitting and picking up one of the two wickets to fall. Well done to Barnaby & Mujtaba on their hard-ball debut.
