This was another good win built on the back of a really strong team performance - everyone contributed and the spirit and concentration levels were high. Against a decent bowling attack, Austin L and Ewan found scoring difficult but most importantly they didn't get out and took what runs came their way. Monty and Byron came in and really ran their fielders hard. Like Austin and Ewan, Dylan and Austin B had to face some tough bowling but they didn't panic and again we managed to keep the scoreboard going up. Morgan and Oscar continued the good work to get us up to a total which was decent but not out of sight for the opposition.
Our bowling and fielding were tidy which meant that for the first 12 overs their scoring mirrored ours. However, we picked up two wickets late on and with some tight bowling and keen fielding we were able to keep a check on their scoring with the result that the game was all but over by the time of the last over.
The statistic which stands out is that the wickets lost for each team was decisive to the ultimate result. This is down to two things - our bowling is much improved and so is our calling/running between the wickets (no run outs). That is exactly what we want.
It seems wrong to single out individuals in a match in which everyone played their part but well done to Dylan in his first hard ball match and to Austin L for getting man of the match.
