Forget Ben Stokes' heroics at the Oval, the real action on May 30 was to be found at Speldhurst CC where Linden Park Under 11 beat the home side by 74 runs.
As against Chiddingstone, we were taking on an inexperienced side but this was another good performance. Austin Bandler got his first experience of hard-ball cricket and held his own, some of the bowling was excellent and there were some excellent shots for four (Monty Bailey's pull through mid-wicket and Oscar's first boundary stand out).
The fielding, calling and running between the wickets were good, though there is still room for improvement in terms of pinching singles and turning ones into twos (and stopping the opposition doing the same), but that will come. Next up on Monday is TW girls under 12 who will be tougher.
