Well done to the players who had their first hardball game, or little experience. It was very brave of players like Jacob and Rose to persist, and accept the support and coaching from the team and umpires. There is no better experience than 'spending time in the middle'!
The damp pitch and wet outfield made it really challenging to score runs, and we lost quite a few wickets due to the ball keeping low. It was a good reminder to always play on the front foot when conditions are wet and the pitch is slow. We did manage to take a few catches and bowled a few players, so it was a brave fight despite our loss.
Ethan was a supportive and encouraging captain, and both teams enjoyed encouraging sideline encouragement from the parents of both contingents - there was a good turnout of supporters, despite the weather!
Well done, and let's learn from each experience.
