Linden Park versus Tunbridge Wells Borderers
A stunning warm day greeted us on Sunday morning at our home ground. After winning the toss, we sent the opposition in to bat.
It was a fast and furious start to the match with Patrick and Myles dominating with the ball upfront. Within 4 overs the opposition were reduced to just 7 runs and 5 wickets down.
Patrick with 5 runs off 4 overs and 2 wickets, Myles 4 runs off 3 overs and 3 wickets were our star bowlers.
Borderers sought about steadying the ship through Wills and Rebecca. Rebecca top scored of the visitors with 12 and was the only batswoman able to defend against Patrick’s pace. After she was bowled by Hugo the visitors sat at 38/7.
A gutsy performance by their number 9 got the visitors to 55 all out.
Chasing 55 Patrick and George raced to 32 in 5 overs before Patrick, top scoring with 21, was dismissed caught and bowled by Will.
In next was Monty and the remaining runs were picked off in the 8th over. George hit a special 6 over the bowler’s head in the penultimate over. That ball stayed hit and remains lost!
A thoroughly professional performance by Linden Park who are back to winning ways.
Both teams decide to carry on the innings, once the game was won, to enjoy some practise in the warm weather. Some fine deliveries showed the opposition have some impressive bowlers and future games are likely to be more competitive. Well done to both teams.
Myles captaining the side for the first time had a special day with a convincing win and three wickets; however, Patrick, with his searing pace collecting 5/2 and 21 runs, was my man-of-the-match.
From the grassy verge, it was a very relaxed and comfortable atmosphere between both teams’ supporters. VIP of the day was undoubtedly Duke, the 11-week old Boston Terrier mascot for TW Borderers!
