LP batted first and set a total of 96 after being bowled out in the 15th over. Standout performances came from Morgan who fell 3 short of retiring at 30 and Monty who retired and returned for a well played 37. Both of them hit boundaries on both side of the wicket with an excellent strike rate.
Unfortunately, the shot a ball strategy was maintained despite the fall of wickets and ultimately the 5 overs we didn’t use was to cost us dearly....the boys will learn from this and hopefully give them a chance to settle into their innings without feeling they have to smash every ball to the boundary, especially the straight ones!
We started well with the ball with both Max and Morgan bowling with great control and removing their top 4 batters, we even saw a regulation outside edge taking expertly by our Captain and wicketkeeper George!
We out bowled and fielded Cowdrey and with 1 over to go they needed 1 run and we needed 1 wicket and after a superb finishing over by Austin B who bowled 4 dot balls only for them to scramble a single to win with 1 ball remaining. If we had used up the overs we would have won at a canter. However, a great display and really promising signs for the rest of the season.
